- Mzansi couple Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha are in the spotlight again for all the wrong reasons on social media
- Fans put two and two together, realising their age difference and how it might've been inappropriate for them to have started dating when Babes was 16
- Social media users have been debating Babes Wodumo and Mampintsha's age difference with different opinions
Gqom artists Mampintsha and Babes Wodumo got married over the weekend and it was beautiful, however their age difference was put in the spotlight by social media users.
It's not a secret that Mampintsha is a lot older than Babes but fans were shocked when they realised just how much. The couple has been together for 10 years and their age difference is 12 years.
Fans started to point out that if they started going out when Babes was 16, this means that Mampintsha was 28 when he approached her. Social media users condemned this and accused Mampintsha of grooming her.
"I don't have a problem with Mampintsha marrying Babes Wodumo. All I'm saying is that he started dating Babes when she was a minor and moved in with her at 16. Men who prey on young girls must be held accountable, Mampintsha was wrong!"
"He groomed her, she was never going to go anywhere after that. The same thing with Jay and B: met when she was a minor and supposedly dated when she became legal at 18, what was he doing around her, waiting for her to be legal? But ya'll ain't ready for that conversation."
"Apparently, she was 16 years old when they started dating. It's legal in SA regardless of your personal views. I think most of you need to worry about your personal lives and bringing up your sons and daughters the way you would like them to live instead of preaching to adults."
Briefly News recently reported that Mampintsha’s mother slammed Babes Wodumo as the pair fight it out.
A video of Mandla ‘Mampintsha’ Maphumulo’s mother has been circulating on social media. In the footage, the woman holds nothing back as she tears into Mampintsha’s new wife, Bongekile ‘Babes Wodumo’ Simelane.
The elderly woman accused Babes Wodumo of using her son and turning him against her. She went on to claim that Babes was faking her pregnancy and was in fact using a 'sponge' to make her belly appear bigger.
