Pretoria-based musician Tebogo Mashego, known for his hit song Biri Marung, is demanding R23 million from Scorpion Kings.

Mashego trended on social media on Friday, 19 September 2025, when he shared that he was stuck in Nigeria and asked for donations.

The Amapiano hitmaker also trended on X when he thanked DJ Karri for buying him a plane ticket back to South Africa.

Briefly News contacted Mr Themba Sekowe, aka DJ Maphorisa, on Sunday, 21 September 2025, for a comment regarding Mr Mashego's allegations about him. Mr Sekowe was not available for a comment at the time of publishing this article.

The musician claimed on his Instagram account on Saturday, 20 September 2025, that the Scorpion Kings duo owes him royalties for his hit song Biri Marung.

Mashego also shared that the duo gained profit from events featuring the track without paying him.

SA reacts to labour ward’s Biri Marung challenge
