NPA Welcomes 25-Year Sentence For DJ Warras’ Killer

The National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) has welcomed the 25-year prison sentence handed to Joaquim Armando Pacula for the murder of DJ Warras. The 25-year-old Mozambican national was sentenced by the Gauteng Division of the High Court in Johannesburg after reaching a plea and sentence agreement with the State.
Pacula admits role in DJ Warras’ death
Pacula pleaded guilty to murder, unlawful possession of a firearm, unlawful possession of ammunition and contravening the Immigration Act. The charges stem from the fatal shooting of Warrick DJ Warras Stock on 16 December 2025.
According to the NPA statement, Pacula admitted during the plea proceedings that he shot and killed Stock in exchange for R25 000. The shooting took place outside the Zambesi Building in Johannesburg’s central business district.

Court hands down 25-year effective sentence

The court sentenced Pacula to 25 years’ imprisonment for murder, eight years for unlawful possession of a firearm, six months for unlawful possession of ammunition and 12 months for contravening the Immigration Act.
However, the sentences will run concurrently with the 25-year murder sentence. Pacula will therefore serve an effective 25 years behind bars.
The NPA said the plea and sentence agreement was concluded under Section 105A of the Criminal Procedure Act after consultation with Stock’s family.
Co-accused still facing court proceedings
While Pacula’s prosecution has concluded, the wider case is not yet over. The NPA confirmed that investigations and prosecution involving the remaining accused are continuing.
The case against co-accused Victor Majola remains before the court and has been postponed to 17 August 2026 for the conclusion of the pre-trial conference. The NPA said the successful prosecution reflects its continued determination to tackle organised and violent crime, including contract killings.
The authority added that it remains committed to pursuing those involved and ensuring justice for victims and their families.
Lawyer says there is no evidence against Majola
Previously Briefly News reported that Victor Majola, the man accused of killing Warrick Stock, also known as DJ Warras, appeared before the Johannesburg Magistrates’ Court following his arrest in connection with the murder of the popular DJ and media personality.
The judge postponed the bail proceedings, while Majola’s lawyer spoke about the case and maintained that there was no evidence against his client.
