PRETORIA — Advocate Andrea Johnson, former head of the Investigating Directorate Against Corruption (IDAC), and dismissed Crime Intelligence head Major-General Feroz Khan walked free on R10,000 bail each after appearing in the Pretoria Magistrates' Court on Friday, 30 October 2026.
SAPS national spokesperson Amanda Van Wyk confirmed the arrests earlier that same day, stating that the Commission's Recommendations Task Team (CRTT) had taken both 56-year-old suspects into custody as part of its ongoing work flowing from the Madlanga Commission's recommendations.
Three charges against Johnson and Khan
The two accused face charges of defeating the ends of justice, assault with intent to cause grievous bodily harm, and contravening the National Prosecuting Authority (NPA) Act.

The charges stem from an incident on 26 June 2018, when Khan allegedly assaulted a brigadier serving under his command. Van Wyk said the victim sustained injuries and subsequently opened a case at the Silverton Police Station. Investigators then established that Johnson, who was employed by the NPA at the time, allegedly interfered with that case.

Case postponed to February 2027
The court postponed the matter to 2 February 2027 to allow investigators sufficient time to finalise their inquiry and the charges against the pair.
Johnson previously led IDAC before her departure from the position, while Khan was dismissed from his role as head of Crime Intelligence. Both accused are expected back in court when the case resumes early next year.
