KWAZULU-NATAL — Four men linked to the ongoing marches against illegal foreigners have been arrested in KwaZulu-Natal after police found them in possession of an AK-47 assault rifle, two handguns and 159 rounds of ammunition.

According to Yusuf Abramjee, the KwaZulu-Natal Provincial Task Team raided a house in Muden, near Greytown, in the early hours of Thursday, 29 October 2026, according to a South African Police Service statement. The four suspects, whose ages range from 19 to 35, have not been named.

Intelligence led to the Muden raid

National Crime Intelligence officers operating in KwaZulu-Natal gathered information indicating that the four individuals were not only actively participating in the marches but were also allegedly involved in cash-in-transit robberies and were believed to be armed. That intelligence prompted the task team to move on the property in Muden.

The men were charged with the illegal possession of firearms and ammunition. Police have not confirmed whether robbery charges will follow, and the charge sheet is expected to be scrutinised when the case is heard in court.

Ballistic tests to determine weapons' history

All three firearms recovered during the raid will be submitted for ballistic testing. The results are intended to establish whether the weapons were used in any crimes in KwaZulu-Natal or elsewhere in South Africa.

The four suspects are scheduled to appear before the Greytown Magistrate's Court on Friday, 30 October 2026.

On the same day, the Durban High Court is set to hear a police application to make an interim order against the March and March Movement final.
