Radio personality and National Lottery presenter Anele Mdoda found herself at the centre of a social media storm on Thursday, 20 August 2026, after fans questioned whether the Lotto draw she hosted was actually broadcast live. The drama unfolded when sharp-eyed followers noticed she appeared to be posting on X while also appearing on screen.

Mdoda had shared content promoting Friday's R120 million Lotto jackpot, but the timing of her posts raised eyebrows. Fans quickly pointed out that she seemed to be tweeting from her phone at the same moment she was visible on television, leading many to conclude that the broadcast was pre-recorded rather than live.

Fans Not Buying Mdoda's Explanation

The Live Lotto presenter's response did little to quell the scepticism. Rather than putting the matter to rest, it seemed to open the door to even more pointed questions about the integrity of the draw itself.

@nubian6 came back with receipts, writing: "The draw is at 21:00 and you were already posting at 21:33. We all know lotto is a scam but since you work there…."

@k_midlands was equally unconvinced, saying: "We hear the TV part, but it seems you are not denying the scam part!?"

@Lit_max007 picked up on what was missing from her reply: "Notice how she didn't deny it's a scam."

@SlowKarabo19807 took a wider swipe at the Lottery altogether, writing: "I have never met anyone that has won lottery or Powerball in my life, how many people relate?"
