South African content creator and media personality Dominic Zaca has ignited a fierce online debate after posting a raw, unfiltered video explaining why so many influencers choose to stay quiet when social and political issues flare up. Filmed inside a parked car in a selfie style, the clip has been circulating widely on Instagram and TikTok since it was posted on 16 September 2026.
Zaca opened the video by acknowledging she was likely to stir the pot, saying, "I'm going to say something that's going to get me in trouble again, but I'm always in trouble, so that's fine." From there, she laid out a pointed argument: influencers are not indifferent; they are financially cornered.
Agencies, Not Brands, Are the Problem
Zaca was careful to separate brands from the agencies that manage influencer relationships, arguing the latter are the real gatekeepers. "It is the agencies," she said plainly, urging followers to notice how rarely outspoken creators attract consistent brand collaborations. "Ask yourself, any influencer that you've seen, doi doi, fight for stuff, justice for justice, how many brands are they working with every month, every week?"

She added that for most influencers, brand deals represent their sole income, making silence a financial survival strategy rather than a moral choice. "They would rather have you hate them for that month that the problem is going on than them lose potential work," Zaca explained.

Some things are more important than a mere lifestyle and trends. LIFE. 🤞🏼❤️"
