A question posted by blogger MDN News on Wednesday, 16 September 2026, has divided South Africans online: should the Scorpion Kings cancel or postpone their highly anticipated FNB Stadium concert this weekend in light of a growing number of unexplained deaths of women east of Johannesburg?
The post, which asked whether the duo should consider pulling the plug on their Saturday, 19 September 2026, show, comes as police confirmed the discovery of a ninth woman's body in just two months. The latest victim was found half-naked and wrapped in a sheet on the side of a road in Dawn Park on Thursday morning. Her identity had not been released at the time of reporting.
The eight preceding deaths were recorded across Ekurhuleni since July, with several of the women found partially clothed and bearing visible injuries. Police have not yet confirmed whether the cases are connected or whether a serial killer is at large.
The FNB Stadium concert is expected to draw large crowds into Johannesburg at night, which is precisely what has some fans uneasy.
