A clip from the Loud Wednesday podcast has Mzansi talking after Married at First Sight Mzansi Season 3's Laurinda Mabunda shared a story that paints a striking picture of just how rocky her marriage to Obren Motswane was from the very beginning. The video, which surfaced on X in October 2026, reveals that the tension between the two was evident before the honeymoon even properly started.

Filmed in what appears to be an indoor podcast studio with a purple-lit backdrop and a visible microphone, Laurinda spoke candidly about the events of her wedding night. She recounted that as the two made their way to their hotel suite, Obren asked her what she did for a living — something she clearly found jarring given the circumstances.

After Laurinda told him she was an economist, his response left her speechless. According to her account, he told her he would be happy to be her friend if things did not work out between them.

"The day we got married, moving into our hotel suite, he asked me, 'What do I do for a living? That was the conversation in the hotel suite," she said. "And you know the first thing he said to me after I told him what I do for a living? He said to me, um, I'd be happy to be friends with you if this doesn't work out."

Laurinda said she was bewildered by the comment, questioning why someone would bring up endings at the very start of a marriage. "Why are you speaking about the exit or the end of something that you just came into? We just got married," she said.

Obren ultimately chose not to recommit to the marriage, and the two parted ways.

The clip sparked a range of reactions online, with many weighing in on both sides:

@MhanaFana said: "I blame you for still giving him the 🍰 after that conversation I mean, that was the first red flag, and you still chose to stay. Why, Laurinda, my lady🤨 if he didn't check out, you were still willing to be with that person mara 😩"

@MoneiTshepiso wrote: "Truth is, she was still begging to be with him even after he was exposed."

@MiMiIsKing offered a different take: "Obrien was willing to be with her too until she humiliated him."

@Ngubenil questioned the timeline of events: "Hindsight is 20/20 but it can also be full of memory lapses — is she really clear that she is telling us she got married to somebody someone who didn't know what her vocation was?"

@KhananiShingan1 summarised what many found most shocking: "Laurinda says Obren asked her what she does for a living on their wedding night and after she told him, he said he'd be more than willing to be her friend if things don't work out 😂"
