A group of Grade 1 learners at Reddford House The Hills melted hearts across South Africa. On 21 August 2026, the school shared footage of their youngest students wishing the Matric class all the best ahead of their upcoming exams, and the internet has not stopped talking about it since.

The video, filmed inside a classroom marked with section labels and a Reddford House banner, shows the small learners presenting decorated water bottles to the Grade 12 students. What followed was a burst of warmth, with the two groups moving into the hallway for celebratory hugs, high-fives and handshakes that left viewers reaching for tissues.

Little ones give big gesture

The gesture was simple but deeply meaningful. The youngest children in the school took time to acknowledge the oldest, recognising that the Matrics were about to face one of the biggest moments of their school lives. The decorated bottles were a personal touch that made the moment feel special rather than ceremonial.
