The track, released as part of Swift's album The Life of a Showgirl: The Encore, carries a message that resonated loudly with Rachel's followers. Swift has described the song as being born from a group chat with friends, where one woman shared that her ex's new girlfriend had reached out asking if he was abusive. Everyone in the room had a story to share. The result was a song about women who realise they dated the same toxic, narcissistic man, using medical outbreak language to describe being the first person "infected" by a damaging partner.
The footage, filmed on a stage bathed in blue and purple lighting, showed Rachel speaking and performing in front of a "Falling Forward" branded backdrop. The event had an energetic, professional atmosphere, and Rachel's choice of soundtrack was not lost on anyone watching. Rachel and Springboks captain Siya Kolisi divorced in October 2024, and she's since written her book about healing titled Falling Forward. Given that context, fans read Rachel's Patient Zero singalong as more than just a love of Taylor Swift. She sang the lyrics:
"If you wanna party with somebody who might know about the devil on his shoulder under his halo."
