A South African TikToker going by @manqobasgudla17 set off a lively debate online after posting banking app screenshots showing what a car salesman can pull in during a good month.
The post, shared on 2 October 2026, was captioned simply:
"How much can you make as a car salesman roughly."
The screenshots showed a South African banking app with R107 102.88 recorded under "Money in" for July 2026. The actual account balance was hidden, replaced with the word "Yey."

What the screenshots showed
The images appeared to be from a Capitec banking app, with the Track tab selected and allegedly showing the money coming into the account each month. The "Money in" amounts were R53,118.03 in May, R89,774.25 in June, R107,102.88 in July, R71,506.92 in August and R27,259.41 in September.
The post drew 187 comments, with South Africans split on whether the numbers were believable.
