The attackers took several of the couple's possessions before fleeing. Despite the shock of the ordeal, both Maryke and her husband walked away physically unharmed. She credited their calm response with helping prevent the situation from becoming far worse. With the festive season approaching, she used the moment to urge others to remain extra cautious. "Silly season is upon us, guys," she said, adding that the experience was a reminder of just how fast things can change, even in a public space with other people around.
