Why was the father arrested?

The South African Police Service's Family Violence, Child Protection and Sexual Offences Unit arrived at the house of the man and found him in a shack in the backyard of the property. He was with a boy and a little girl, and the girl was covered in bruises and injuries. The police arrested him, and she was taken to the hospital. However, she died from her injuries.

Two suspects were arrested on 23 July 2025 in connection with the murder of Lolitha Kowa in Khayelitsha, Western Cape. A police dog led the police to a scene where blood was found on the property where she was last seen. The two suspects appeared before the Khayelitsha Magistrates Court.
