AfriForum community safety spokesperson Jacques Broodryk confirmed the operation on X (formerly Twitter), stating that the pair had been taken hostage while suspects drove their vehicle in the direction of Soshanguve. Cartrack and SAPS traced the vehicle and led authorities to Tshwane North, where the pursuit culminated in an exchange of gunfire.
Multi-Agency response secures the area
AfriForum's Noord van die Berg Neighbourhood Watch mobilised alongside SAPS Tshwane K9, the Flying Squad, Pretoria North and Sinoville SAPS, Prosec, TRT K9, and other security partners after members heard the chase and the shooting that followed. The coordinated response covered multiple units across both law enforcement and the private security sector.
