GAUTENG — Police in Ekurhuleni have confirmed that a seventh body has been added to their investigation into a string of killings targeting women in the area.

Acting Gauteng Provincial Commissioner Major General Fred Kekana made the confirmation in Kwa-Thema on 15 September 2026, where another woman's body was found. The Kwa-Thema victim's body was dumped on the side of the road.

Seventh body added to investigation

Speaking to the media, General Kekana confirmed that another body had been formally linked to the investigation. The woman's body was actually recovered from a river near Tembisa Mall in Clayville on 7 September 2026.

The victim was found without a top on, but still wearing her underwear. This is consistent with the pattern observed across the other deaths, as the victims were half naked and also sexually assaulted.

General Kekana explained that after police noted that several bodies were being dumped, they went back to the three stations across the area. It then came to light that there was another woman's body, which was discovered on 7 September.

Police have faced criticism already for their handling of the situation, with community members and observers questioning why residents were not warned earlier about the killings or alerted to any potential threat.
