GAUTENG — A woman's body has been found on the side of the road in KwaThema on Tuesday, 15 September 2026.

The discovery is the sixth such tragedy in the area within two months. KwaThema is situated approximately 45 kilometres from Kempton Park, where the first four bodies were discovered.

A fifth body was found in Olifantsfontein, near Kempton Park, on 14 September 2026, on the same day that the family of Elizabeth "Tsontso" Moselakgomo positively identified her body.

While there are no details yet about the sixth body, the other victims seem to have suffered similar fates. Victims have frequently been found partially clothed and bearing signs of physical trauma.

The South African Police Service has responded by increasing patrols in the area and deploying dedicated task teams to investigate whether the deaths are connected, though authorities have not confirmed the presence of a serial killer.

The string of deaths has prompted an outpouring of alarm on social media. Many South Africans directed their frustration at the government.

Criminologist weighs in on possibility of a serial killer
