GAUTENG — Two men were shot and killed in an apparent execution-style attack outside the University of Johannesburg's Doornfontein Campus on 14 September 2026.

According to information shared alongside a bystander video that surfaced on X, the two victims were seated inside a 7-seater vehicle when a gunman armed with an assault rifle opened fire on them. The assailant then fled the scene in a getaway car.

The footage, filmed at street level near a vehicle checkpoint and barrier gate at the campus entrance, captures the tense atmosphere outside the institution before the chaos erupted. Gunshots could be heard, and people could be seen running, as the person recording the video expressed shock.

At the time of publication, no official statement had been released by the South African Police Service (SAPS) or the University of Johannesburg confirming further details about the victims, the suspected motive, or the status of the investigation.
