A local performer gave Mzansi a reason to smile after a video of him attempting to coach his goat through a singing lesson went viral on TikTok. The clip was shared by TikTok user @seraga_afrika3 on 10 October 2026 and quickly took off for all the right reasons.

In the video, the man cradles a young goat in his arms and begins serenading it with surprisingly smooth, soulful vocals. Between verses, he coaches the animal on pitch and key, stopping each time it bleats to inform it, with total seriousness, that it is off-key. The lesson ends without a breakthrough, with the man deciding they will pick things up again the next day.

Vocal talent upstages the goat

What viewers could not stop talking about was not the goat's musical potential, but the man's own voice. His rich, effortless vocals caught people completely off guard, and comments flooded in praising his talent. The comedic premise of the video drew people in, but his singing ability kept them watching.

Singing farmer shares the melodic bond and plans for Soso

The Briefly News team spoke with the multi-talented performer to uncover how a quiet afternoon on the farm turned into an internet sensation.

The team first asked how the idea to film a singing lesson with Soso came about and how old the kid is now:

"I was actually bored, and down at my farm. Since singing brings so much hope in my life, I tell my animals my problems: "I bet it sounds funny, hey", but that's the sad truth. The kid Soso is one and a half months old.”

With listeners deeply impressed by his powerful voice, we asked how his journey as a performer and vocalist originally began:

“I started singing when I was in Grade 6, then the rest was history. In high school, I was singing choral music, which I am still in love with. My drama coach (Tiego Shametja) once said to me, "Your calling will haunt you". It's doing exactly that. 🤣 In varsity at UFS, I was doing Klein ser and stage door; that's when I joined a group called Colourful Soul (live band), and that's when I started being exposed to different genres of music.
Live Sessions at Ivy Lounge in Bloemfontein really played a vital role in my career. Clash of the Choirs, with the late Sfiso Ncwane, did a tribute to Frank Leapa with Budaza Mapefane, a theatre musical show, *Dream Girls*, directed by Angelo Mockie. I am jack of all trades (MCing, acting, singing and Radio presenting; those are my vibes). Currently a stage manager at The Great Escape camping festival that takes place every Good Friday holiday in Clerance Free State province.”

Finally, when asked if fans can expect a follow-up duet or "part two" anytime soon, given that Soso was a bit off-key:

“Part two is coming, the last one though, then she will be prepared for the table #chevon#. 🤣 Ke December se shabo😭🤣.”

Mzansi reacts to the unlikely duet

Whether the goat ever finds its pitch remains to be seen, but Mzansi has already found its next unlikely star. South Africans in the comments could not help themselves:
