GAUTENG — The family of Boitumelo Nhlanzi have spoken out after her murder on 28 September 2026.
Nhlanzi was identified as the woman who was shot and killed on Mapungubwe Street in Tembisa in the morning, while she was on her way to work. Although initial reports pointed to a possible robbery, her family has told reporters they believe the attack was deliberate.
In an on-scene interview with eNCA reporter @Sli_Masikane, Nhlanzi's uncle said the family has reason to suspect her husband.

Family points to missing husband
During the interview, the uncle said the family contacted the husband by phone after the shooting, and he said he would come to the scene. However, all subsequent calls went unanswered, with his phone eventually switched off.
Family members who went to the home of his brothers were told he had not been there since departing at around 4:00 AM and was not seen again. The uncle further revealed that the husband reportedly messaged his family, asking them to remain with his child in the event that a certain problem arose.
Investigations continue into the murder, and the family have passed information, including clues they described as significant, on to police.
24-year-old woman found dead
Previously, Briefly News reported that a 24-year-old woman was found dead in an informal settlement in Canelands, KwaZulu-Natal.
Reaction Unit South Africa (RUSA) received a call for assistance at approximately 03:32 and dispatched officers to the scene.
Upon arrival, they found the woman's boyfriend sitting inside the room, visibly distressed and believed to be under the influence of alcohol.
