GAUTENG — Lieutenant General Shadrack Sibiya will remain behind bars after his bail hearing was postponed to 13 October 2026.
The suspended Deputy National Police Commissioner appeared before the Randburg Magistrate's Court again on 7 October 2026, where his legal team submitted new documents on his behalf.
Sibiya, who faces charges of rape of an 18-year-old, sexual grooming of a 16-year-old, human trafficking and firearm violations, remains in custody at Kgosi Mampuru II while the prosecution reviews the newly submitted material.

Among the material submitted was a supporting affidavit from Sibiya's wife, in which she alleged that individuals referred to as "Khumalo and Mkhwanazi" — described as senior police figures — had pressured the father of the 16-year-old complainant to pursue the case.
Sibiya's team disputes recording
During proceedings, Sibiya sought to contextualise a recording played in court in which he is heard telling Mr M, the father of the 16-year-old, that he could "deal with him very quickly and easily."
His defence lawyer, Amanda Nel, argued the statement had been taken out of context and did not constitute a threat.
"So, in this context, this is when the applicant says, knowing this about you, Mr M, you are the easiest person to deal with, because you yourself are not so clean. So, they have nothing to do with this case. It was a conversation about Mr M's behaviour towards the applicant," Nel told the court.
