Mamelodi Sundowns have accumulated a reported R150 million windfall over just three months, with the funds flowing from three distinct sources tied to their recent domestic and continental dominance.
The Betway Premiership giants kicked off the run in May, when their CAF Champions League victory reportedly yielded R97 million in prize money. The triumph not only reinforced Sundowns' standing as one of Africa's premier clubs but also delivered the largest single contribution to their three-month financial total.
FIFA payout adds to the tally
In July, FIFA reportedly directed R25 million to Sundowns through its club benefits programme, compensating the Tshwane side for releasing eight players ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup. The payment reflects the growing financial rewards available to clubs with international-calibre squads.
The third and final contribution came through the departure of winger Thapelo Maseko, who reportedly completed a move to Danish side FC Copenhagen for R28 million. The transfer fee pushed the club's cumulative three-month earnings to approximately R150 million.

More revenue on the horizon
The figures illustrate how Sundowns have built a model that converts on-field achievement into substantial revenue, combining continental prize money, FIFA compensation and player development returns within a single quarter.
The income stream is not expected to stop there. Sundowns' second CAF Champions League title secured automatic qualification for the 2026 FIFA Intercontinental Cup and an early berth in the expanded 2029 FIFA Club World Cup, which will accommodate 32 clubs.
Their continental success also booked a place in the 2026 CAF Super Cup, where they are scheduled to face USM Alger in a one-off final, with additional prize money on the line.
Bafana star leaves Sundowns for PSL rivals
Briefly News also reported that a Bafana Bafana star has decided to leave Mamelodi Sundowns for the second season running for Premier Soccer League rivals.
The South African international is one of the few players leaving the CAF Champions League champions this summer ahead of the 2026-27 season.
