Bafana Bafana midfielder Luke Le Roux has joined Belgian Pro League club Cercle Brugge on a free transfer, ending a brief spell without a club following his departure from an English Championship side last week.
Cercle Brugge confirmed the signing on Thursday, revealing that Le Roux has committed to a two-season deal with the club.
"Luke Le Roux (26) strengthens the green-and-black midfield. The nine-time South African international has signed for two seasons with the Association," the club stated in its announcement.

"Luke is a player with valuable experience, both as an international and in competitive competitions such as the Swedish Allsvenskan and the Championship," Murchio said.
"With his speed, energy and quality on the ball, he brings extra possibilities to our midfield. He complements the profiles we already have in the core well, and we look forward to seeing him on the field in Green-Black."
Le Roux's European career path
The 26-year-old has built his career across several European leagues since leaving South Africa. He has represented Varbergs BoIS, FC Volendam, IFK Värnamo and Portsmouth before arriving in Belgium. His experience across Sweden and England appears to have been central to Cercle Brugge's decision to recruit him.
Le Roux's departure from his Championship club was confirmed last week by mutual consent, and he has since secured his next move without delay.
