What Doctor Khumalo will do in his SAFA position

Khumalo will assist technical committee chairperson Jack Maluleke in overseeing football-related matters at SAFA. The committee’s work includes coaching development, national team performance, talent identification and improving youth development structures.

The former Bafana Bafana midfielder brings experience from both the pitch and the technical bench. According to FarPost, he previously served as an assistant coach at Kaizer Chiefs before becoming Baroka FC’s technical director and later caretaker coach.

His appointment comes as SAFA develops its Vision 2030 strategy, which president Danny Jordaan says will prioritise schools football, player development and stronger performances by the country’s national teams. Khumalo’s new position puts him in technical discussions that could shape how SAFA pursues these priorities.

SAFA’s broader football development plans

The appointment comes as SAFA works on its wider football development agenda. The association’s technical structures help shape coaching standards and support national team performance.
