Calls Grow for AKA Boycott Amid Investigation into Nelli Tembe's Death

- The calls for AKA''s music to be boycotted by radio stations have been growing as the rapper faces abuse allegations

The hashtag #MuteAKA has been growing in popularity on social media as more and more social media users join the calls to boycott the rapper and his music.

This call comes after disturbing videos were leaked of AKA and the late Nelli Tembe. Some of the footage has left many believing that the Fela In Versace hitmaker was abusing the 22-year-old.

An anti-GBV group, Women For Change, has taken to Instagram to call for the muting of the rapper’s music until further notice. The activist group called on radio stations to stop playing the rapper’s tracks.

Their call follow Ntsiki Mazwai's, who also shared that she believes the rapper should be muted amid accusations that he abused the late Nelli Tembe.

As more videos of the toxic relationship leak, Mazwai believes that it is irresponsible to have his music played on radio. Taking to social media, she posted:

“I think all radio stations need to mute AKA music till further notice...”

Mzansi social media users have also hopped on the hashtag #muteAKA. Here are a few reactions:

Tony Forbes, dad to rapper Kiernan ‘AKA’ Forbes, has spoken up against the calls to mute his son’s music. Tony took to social media to respond to Women For Change, which called for the muting of the rapper’s music until further notice.

Tony Forbes responded to the post and said:

“I did see it. I do also know more than what appears in that video. I am saying exactly what you are accusing me of. Don’t be shallow, look deeper before you judge."

He continued by saying that allegations against his son need to be examined properly and that the videos which have surfaced of AKA breaking down a door need to examined in the context of the situation, according to The Sowetan.

He said that his son is pouring his feelings into his music at the moment and is not able to articulate himself well.
