Kelly did not explain why she made this request but many had their assumptions. Social media user @blackconsciousd said:

“I don't think she submitted her work for the SAMAs and I think they did that on her behalf.”

@joyzelda said:

“We need more artists like you who will not be allowed to be disrespected like this, the nerve, last year you won't nominated when we all know how damn fire your album is.”

@jackybustersa said:

“If @TheSAMAs were nominating artist on merit, Empini would have been nominated. One of the most played songs in black radio stations. Maybe it will be recognised next year or SAMA 2023... I don't know.”

@chiefkwanda said:

“I respect all artists who don't partake in SAMAs. The only legit & credible winners are the most airplays category winners. Mampintsha & Babes Wodumo told us! We know!!!”

@thando_philisa said:

“Well said Kelly, how dare they do that to your amazing work, the album is out of this world bakuthatha kancane maan tshini. #SAMA27”

Meanwhile, Briefly News previously reported that Mzansi singer Makhadzi did not receive a nomination for a South African Music Award (SAMA) and is disappointed about this situation. Makhadzi took to social media to let her followers know that he submitted everything that was required but maybe they didn't like her music.

"I submitted SAMAs nomination forms but unfortunately maybe I didn’t meet their requirements," she tweeted.

The SAMAs have released their nominations for all categories and Mzansi has been reacted to the news on social media. Makhadzi has had a good run so far and her fans are confused about why she wasn't even considered for a single award.

Social media users reacted to Makhadzi's tweet and a few offered her some words of comfort so she can deal with the situation.
