The legendary John Kani took to social media to pay tribute to the late actor and activist Sam Phillips.
Phillips passed away recently and Kani shared some heartfelt words in honour of him on social media.
John Kani wrote about the contributions that Sam Phillips made to the entertainment industry but also to the anti-apartheid movement and South Africa's democracy.
John Kani wrote:
"Another artist has fallen. Mr Sam Philips. Spent most of his life in exile serving the cause of our liberation through his work. Represented his country in countless Anti Apartheid conferences. RIP my brother I recognise you contribution. Elder"
Kani acknowledged Phillips' impact and others joined him in mourning the legendary man:

The late actor's daughter, Mpumi Phillips, also responded to John Kani and thanked him for his words:
