- The radio personality's tweet rubbed many feminists the wrong way
DJ Euphonik recently came under fire for his comments on feminism. The musician took to Twitter on Tuesday, 16 February to share his opinion after he and DJ Fresh's rape case was thrown out of court due to lack of sufficient evidence.
A woman recently accused Euphonik and DJ Fresh of drugging and sexually assaulting her back when she was still a student. The National Prosecuting Authority confirmed on Tuesday that it had decided not to prosecute in the rape case. An excited Euphonik took to the micro-blogging app and posted:
"Shout out to the toxic feminist brigade who are conscious liars and delusionists that don’t know the difference between fact or fiction. You can’t rape someone you’ve never met and don’t know. No matter how much you want to believe it it won’t make it true."
He was responding to the hate that both he and Fresh received from tweeps who called them out after the woman made the allegations. The star's tweet rubbed many the wrong way. Check out some of their comments below:
"You're embarrassing to say the least."
"Themba, what are you doing? Given the situation in this country and your influence, you need to do better!"
"You keep digging this grave. Kube uvele wathula."
"We believe her."
"Imagine thinking feminism can be toxic. It must be crack!"
"There is no smoke without fire."
In related news, Briefly.co.za reported that the family of the alleged victim in the now-dismissed rape case against DJ Fresh and Euphonik has reacted to his tweet accusing her of being a "pathological liar".
Fresh took to Twitter recently and replied to a tweep alleging that the victim in the case was a "pathological liar". The musician responded:
"Aunt of her's called me 3 weeks ago STATING EXACTLY THIS!!! She wouldn't speak on the record coz 'family'."
In a statement shared by entertainment commentator Phil Mpela on Twitter, the Madikizela family refuted Fresh's "false claims" and expressed that "at no point did any family member call DJ Fresh to say such".
"The Madikizela family is distressed at these false claims and rejects these with contempt.
The family called on DJ Fresh to retract his "false claims immediately". The Madikizelas also claimed that this is a smear campaign and public character assassination of their daughter."
