Exclusive: Phelo Bala Chats About His New Single and His Family

Phelo Bala dropped a new love song recently. The musician released Nanini on Valentine's Day.

In an exclusive interview with Briefly.co.za, the singer revealed that the song was written by a good friend of his.

"It’s a declaration of love and how you will love your person through and through. It was written by a good friend of mine @NewKid_T45 who’s also featured on it."

The star expressed that his passion for music is in his DNA. His brothers Zwai and Loyiso Bala are also known Mzansi musicians.

"My grandfather was a choral composer and we grew up singing in the church choir. I never thought I would make it a career but hey, like I said... 'It’s in my DNA'."

The songwriter also has his own company which some of his projects have been released under.

"I love watching documentaries and series. I’m big on spending time with loved ones but also quite reserved and socially awkward. Oh! AND I LOVE FOOD."

The star is married to South African media personality Moshe Ndiki. He said of his family:

"We sing a lot when we are together (A LOT) because I believe music is our foundation. My in-laws, on the other hand, live to laugh at one another and it’s a 'roast each other' fest."

The star shared that one of the highlights of his career is when he sang for former president Thabo Mbeki. Phelo advised aspiring artists:
