Phelo Bala dropped a new love song recently. The musician released Nanini on Valentine's Day.
In an exclusive interview with Briefly.co.za, the singer revealed that the song was written by a good friend of his.
"It’s a declaration of love and how you will love your person through and through. It was written by a good friend of mine @NewKid_T45 who’s also featured on it."
The star expressed that his passion for music is in his DNA. His brothers Zwai and Loyiso Bala are also known Mzansi musicians.
"My grandfather was a choral composer and we grew up singing in the church choir. I never thought I would make it a career but hey, like I said... 'It’s in my DNA'."
The songwriter also has his own company which some of his projects have been released under.
"I love watching documentaries and series. I’m big on spending time with loved ones but also quite reserved and socially awkward. Oh! AND I LOVE FOOD."
The star is married to South African media personality Moshe Ndiki. He said of his family:
"We sing a lot when we are together (A LOT) because I believe music is our foundation. My in-laws, on the other hand, live to laugh at one another and it’s a 'roast each other' fest."
The star shared that one of the highlights of his career is when he sang for former president Thabo Mbeki. Phelo advised aspiring artists:
"Look after your mental health first. Your mind can be your biggest prison. Sooo many have come and gone due to lack of self care. You need to also love what you do because even in hard times, it’s that passion that will keep you going."
The world-renowned rapper features Lil Baby and Rick Ross in the new project. The superstar's fans took to the micro-blogging app to discuss their favourite lyrics from the three tracks titled What's Next, Wants and Needs and Lemon Pepper Freestyle.
The musician dropped the EP to keep his fans busy while he prepares to drop his highly-anticipated album Certified Lover Boy later this year.
His excited fans from all over the globe have flooded Twitter with their reactions to the dope EP. A tweep @MaxitoLFC wrote:
"Admittedly I’m not a Drake fan, however, credit where’s its due as What’s Next is great."
