Ramaphosa Delays His National Address in Honour of Mama Noxolo's Last Day

- Noxolo Grootboom was due to deliver her final news bulletin, however, President Cyril Ramaphosa's national address was scheduled at the same time

- Ramaphosa delayed his address in honour of Grootboom so she could have her last moment with the nation

- The nation took to the internet to pay its last respects to Mama Noxolo after 37 years of service

Social media users flooded the internet on veteran newsreader Noxolo Grootboom's last day in the office.

After 37 years, Grootboom's last day has been made extra special with tribute pouring in for her. Her last broadcast was so important that even President Cyril Ramaphosa delayed his national address so as not to impose on her time.

Initially, the president's broadcast was scheduled for 19:00 pm but this clashed with Grootboom's last appearance.

Noxolo was moved to tears when she heard that Ramaphosa had delayed his address to allow her the opportunity to say goodbye as she retires.

Earlier, Briefly.co.za reported that Veteran isiXhosa newsreader, Noxolo Grootboom, is hanging up her microphone and has announced that after 37 years she will retire.

Grootboom has accompanied many South Africans over the last three decades and as a result, become a much loved public figure in the broadcasting industry.

She began her career in the '80s in the typing pool before she made her way onto television screens.
