Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion performed her controversial song WAP at the Grammy Awards and people were not happy about it. The song has received endless backlash and this time was no different.
It was brave of Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion to perform the song, let alone for the Grammy Awards planners to let it happen. It has been reported that over 1 000 complaints have been given pertaining to the performance.
Cardi B and Megan Thee Stallion put on a good show, we will give them that, but they did not receive the applause they were expecting – maybe the negative attention is what they were seeking?
One person who witnessed the performance said:
“It was as if they were dancing in a strip club. The outfits they were wearing and the movements they did were absolutely disgusting.”
The people who complained all stated that the song, dance movements and outfits were all below the belt and should not have been on an awards ceremony that families all over the world watch. Some feel the Grammy Awards needed an age restriction.
Briefly New previously reported that on March 14, 2021, during the Grammy Awards, 28-year-old American rapper Cardi B alongside Megan Thee Stallion performed the hit track WAP on stage and it was applauded by many.
The Recording Academy also praised the performance on social media. However, there were some people who did not like the performance and they took to social media to air their grievances. A number of them were mothers who said that it was inappropriate for the performance to air on TV because it wasn’t meant for children.
It was also reported that Cardi B and Megan The Stallion's smash hit WAP is leading the new Billboard Global 200 chart. The song has been at Number 1 for a third week in a row. The Billboard Global 200 chart premiered in 2020.
It ranks songs based on streaming and sales activity picked from more than 200 territories around the world. It is compiled by Nielsen/MRC Data.
According to billboard.com, the Billboard Global 200 is inclusive of worldwide data. Cardi and Megan's WAP tops the chart with 76.3 million global streams and 11 000 global downloads sold in the week ending on 1 October 2020.
