Sive Ngesi's menstrual health foundation has ramped up its initiative to provide young girls with access to sanitary pads. Just recently, Siv visited a University of the Western Cape campus, marking the beginning of something amazing in his philanthropy work.
The media personality has partnered with Clicks to provide free sanitary pads through vending machines around SA campuses.
Sharing a video from the event, the official UWC Instagram page wrote:
"In partnership with the MENstruation Foundation and the Clicks Helping Hand Trust, Students on the Go is tackling period poverty on South African campuses by providing free, high-quality sanitary pads through token-operated vending machines."

Siv Ngeszi responds to negative criticism
Ngesi was on KFM to speak about his initiative, and he received a lot of applause from social media peeps. However, one in particular, Neli B Dancefit, was critical about Siv providing menstrual pads, saying menstrual cups are more effective and last longer.
"Provide menstrual cups to them. They last up to 12 years. Why are we still giving them pads?"
The presenter argued that some people who benefit from his drive have limited access to water to clean the cups. Siv Ngesi also said there are cultural limitations as well, and young women still need to get educated about this.
"Have you ever used one of those as a young, nearly bleeding young woman? With no running water or privacy? Cups are incredible, but sadly, they need lots of education and cultural changes. Some of these young ladies are even too scared to use tampons," he argued.

The conversation went south with the woman slamming Siv and the other men for thinking that they know about women's health and their preferences. However, never one to back down from an argument about this, Siv corrected the woman and spoke about his family's experience with menstruation.
"When I say privacy, here’s what I mean: as a kid, I remember my aunts, sisters, or mom putting on a pad right in front of me — it was quick and easy. But a cup isn’t as quick to insert, especially for a young teenager.
"Now, you can call me “a man” all you want — but I’ve dedicated my life to this topic, and I promise my intentions come from a place of pure love and care. Lastly, no one should tell a woman what she should use. It’s her choice and her right to decide what works best for her."
