South African singer Tyla recently returned home after her beloved grandmother tragically passed away.

The Water hitmaker shared the news of her grandmother's passing on 1 September 2025, and spoke about the integral role she played in her life.

Officially announcing her return to South Africa, presumably for her granny's funeral, the singer spoke about her social media algorithm strangely updating to South African content whenever she goes home:

"Whenever I get back to SA and my algorithm changes, I feel like I’m catching up on a series."

According to Spout Social, social media platforms like Twitter (X) not only display the tweets from pages you follow, but also show you content based on your location. This means users' timelines refresh according to where they are.
