Tupac's family inside the courtroom

Opening statements have officially begun in what many consider one of the most anticipated criminal trials in hip-hop history. Tupac's sister Sekyiwa Shakur and stepbrother Maurice 'Mopreme' Shakur were among the family members who made the journey to Las Vegas to witness proceedings in person.

According to People Magazine, the emotional weight of the trial was evident during day two, when several family members chose to leave the courtroom before prosecutors presented graphic autopsy photographs of the late rapper to the jury. The images, shown as part of the state's case, proved too difficult for some relatives to sit through.

As for the shooting near the courthouse, one Instagram commenter who identified as a Las Vegas local offered some context, writing:

"Vegas local here it was at a Starbucks near the courthouse. Had nothing to do with the case. It was about 30 minutes into lunch break. And it's downtown, something always happens!"

Tupac’s murder trial continues after 30 years
