Sean 'Diddy' Combs, already serving a 50-month federal sentence for prostitution charges, could be facing an additional legal storm. Sources close to the district attorney's office have suggested that a conviction in the ongoing trial of Duane 'Keffe D' Davis could open the door to criminal prosecution of Combs in connection with Tupac Shakur's murder.

Thirty years on from the fatal drive-by shooting that claimed Shakur's life in Las Vegas, the case is back in the spotlight as Davis stands trial for allegedly masterminding the killing.

The $1 million allegation

Central to the prosecution's case is a secret recording made by police in 2008, entered into evidence at Davis's trial, in which Davis reportedly described how members of the South Side Compton Crips hunted down and shot Shakur. In that same recording, Davis allegedly claimed that Combs offered him $1 million (approximately £750,000) to carry out the killing.

According to news outlet The Telegraph, Prosecutors allege Davis was riding in the white Cadillac from which the fatal shot was fired and that he passed the weapon to the shooter. Their case also draws on statements Davis made to police, a memoir, and documentary interviews, in which he claimed he pursued Shakur after his nephew Orlando Anderson was beaten up by Shakur and his entourage earlier on the same night.

Davis himself maintains that his earlier claims were fabricated for fame and notoriety rather than rooted in fact.
