Popular 7de Laan actress and media personality Carina Nel has confirmed her health setback with her followers and fans on social media this week.
Nel previously starred opposite model and actress Beate Green as Dr Alexa Welman on SABC2's cancelled Afrikaans soapie 7de Laan.
The fan-favourite actress is the latest South African star to battle cancer after legendary Isidingo actress Michello Botes, who passed away from the illness in 2024.
The former 7de Laan actress confirmed her diagnosis on her Instagram account on Wednesday, 30 September 2026.

Nel wrote: "On April 16th my whole world came to a standstill. I'm in for a mammogram, sonar, and an immediate biopsy of a tumor and lymph gland in my left chest. Within an hour, life as I knew it changed in the blink of an eye."
The actress adds that a crippling fear she can't explain to anyone has overtaken her, as she was diagnosed with breast cancer on 21 April 2026.
"Cancer. It still feels weird saying this. As if I am looking into someone else's life. Never would I have imagined that this would be part of my path. All of a sudden, I was part of a group of people I never thought I'd be part of," added the star.
