MacG is not one to back down from a challenge, and his latest business venture proves exactly that. At the formal Chillers Lager product launch event, the popular podcast host opened up about the obstacles he faced trying to get his beer brand off the ground in South Africa, and why the final product ended up being brewed across the border in Namibia.

Speaking candidly at the event, MacG revealed that every brewery he approached in South Africa turned him down flat. The reason, he explained, was the fear of going up against what he described as a "beer mafia" — the dominant players who control the local industry. Retailers and partners all reportedly warned him not to attempt it.

"When someone tells me I can't do something, that's when I want to do it," he told the audience, to audible agreement from the crowd.

After every South African brewery shut the door on the Grandeur Gin owner, he eventually found a willing partner in Namibia. He even pointed out that the bottle label confirms it: "Produced in Namibia," a detail that tells its own story about the battle he fought to bring the product to market.

Cases of Chillers Lager were on full display at the event, and the energy in the room was electric, with social media comments scrolling across the broadcast in real time as viewers reacted with excitement and requests to buy the product.
