Anele Mdoda is currently in Norway with her husband, Prince Bonelela "Buzza James" Mgudlwa, chasing the Northern Lights, but motherhood clearly has no off switch. The media personality paused her adventure abroad to share a collection of text messages from her son, Alakhe, that have since had the internet in stitches.

The screenshots Anele posted paint the picture of a boy who is very much holding down the fort, one very specific question at a time. One message had Alakhe hunting down kitchen essentials: "Mom, where are the chopsticks, I wanna eat noodles." Another saw the youngster seeking parental approval for a playdate on wheels: "Mommy, please can I ride my scooter with Tristan," complete with a hugging emoji.

Alakhe's Nando's order steals the show

Perhaps the most viral moment in the batch was Alakhe's Nando's request, where he reminded his mom not to forget the peri-naise sauce. The message caught the attention of the restaurant's official Instagram page, which dropped a comment of its own: "Alakhe standing on business."

Other texts showed the boy asking who would check his homework while his parents were away, and whether his stepdad still needed him to water the garden.

His most strategic move, however, was saved for bedtime negotiations. Alakhe reasoned that since he normally says goodnight to his parents at 20:30, the time he would have spent on that goodbye should count as bonus TV time.

"Do I have to go to bed at 20:30 because I'm usually saying good night to you guys, so can I use that extra 5 min to watch TV?"

Anele captioned the post: "Chasing the Northern Lights whilst being chased by motherhood."

Alakhe, who celebrated his 11th birthday in August and is a child influencer, is no stranger to entertaining his mom's vast social media following. In a birthday message dedicated to her son earlier that month, Anele lovingly gushed over his big personality, humorously describing him as "a bedtime dodger" and an "anti-homework activist" - traits that were on full display in his recent texts.

Celebrities react to Alakhe's texts

The post drew a wave of responses from well-known faces who clearly found Alakhe's logic hard to argue with.

Former Miss South Africa Liesl Laurie Mthombeni called them "Very important questions!" while DJ Zinhle admitted the situation looked all too familiar: "Looks too familiar."

TV and radio personality Zanele Potelwa zeroed in on the bedtime loophole, writing: "That extra 5 minutes? He knows his stuff." Media personality Sithelo Shozi took Alakhe's side on the garden query, joking: "No, valid. Does he still need to water the garden?"
