The online feud between model and influencer Blue Mbombo and businessman Thami Ndlala has cooled down after weeks of cryptic social media exchanges involving a luxury watch, a recalled jeweller's email and a string of pointed captions that set the internet buzzing.

The latest chapter opened with Mbombo posting a photo of a green Rolex shopping bag and a gold-wrapped gift box on Instagram, taken at Waterfall City in Midrand. Her caption carried a clear message:

"You cannot spend your way into being wanted. The obsession is louder than the rejection" and "Imagine confusing rejection with theft."

The Rolex and the recalled email

Mbombo also posted a valuation certificate from Shemer Jewellers in Bedfordview, Johannesburg, for a Rolex Oyster Perpetual Lady-Datejust in Oystersteel, featuring a dark grey dial and Jubilee bracelet. The document, addressed to Thandi Blue Mbombo, listed a value of R137,800, with serial and reference numbers partially redacted.

An accompanying email from the jeweller confirmed the certificate had been issued for insurance purposes. A second email, dated 30 June, recalled the first, instructing that its contents be disregarded entirely and not used for any reference or action. Mbombo captioned that recall:

"Imagine thinking your money could buy you love, only for the investment to yield absolutely no returns. I'd want a refund too."

Proxy wars and outside voices

Gossip blogger Musa Khawula weighed in heavily on Ndlala's side, sharing alleged documents and claims casting Mbombo in a negative light. Many of her supporters suspect Khawula is acting as a proxy, given that the pair's legal disputes remain unresolved.

He also claimed Ndlala is pursuing R1 million in damages for defamation, and that Mbombo previously sought the same amount from a former partner, Nokwane, to open a salon.

@ChrisExcel102 also took aim at Mbombo, writing:

"Blue Mbombo, she once accused her ex-boyfriend Tebogo of GBV; she once lied that she was forced into an ab*rtion by a man. Now it's Thami… all her life is based on scandals that are destroying men…"
