• Homecoming viewers were left heartbroken after Dr Shobane Mnisi, portrayed by actor Mpilo Mbatha, was killed off
• Mbatha left fans of the character devastated by the storyline's direction
• Mpilo Mbatha's exit follows that of fellow Homecoming star Thembinkosi Mthembu, raising fresh questions about the show's future

Homecoming has left viewers in their feelings after Dr Shobane Mnisi, played by former Shaka Ilembe actor Mpilo Mbatha, was written out of the show in a dramatic death scene. The character's lifeless body, discovered in a tavern after being killed by his business partner Shwabi, sent fans spiralling on social media.

Mbatha's departure adds to a growing list of cast exits from the show, coming after Sifiso (played by Thembinkosi Mthembu) also left Homecoming.

Mbatha's character previously trended online when Zethu (played by Six Nyamane) dumped him.
