The Miss SA organisation has landed in hot water after announcing Dr Musa Mthombeni as one of the judges for its 2026 competition. The announcement, which dropped on 26 October 2026, drew swift backlash from South Africans who couldn't wrap their heads around why the medical doctor got the nod over his wife, former Miss SA Liesl Laurie-Mthombeni, who won in 2025.
The competition also recently received attention online when it revealed that Jo-Ann Strauss will be co-hosting the event alongside Lawrence Maleka.
Entertainment commentator Jabu McDonald confirmed Mthombeni's latest gig on his X account on 26 October 2026.
