M-Care Hospital Group shared the heartbreaking news of Dr Dave Fourie’s passing on Facebook on 12 August 2026. The post remembered him as a co-founder of M-Care Nelspruit Hospital and a man whose impact on patients and the broader community ran deep.

Dr Fourie, known more widely as Dr Dave, was a foundational figure in private healthcare in Mbombela, Mpumalanga. He co-founded the Nelmed Medicross practice and was a driving force behind the establishment of M-Care Nelspruit Hospital, part of the M-Care and NHN group. His work focused on sub-acute care, including inpatient and outpatient neuro-rehabilitation and psychiatric services.

Dr Dave Fourie’s legacy in Nelspruit

M-Care Hospital Group operates six specialised facilities across four South African provinces. Dr Fourie’s contribution helped shape the Nelspruit facility into a centre of care for patients who needed medium-level rehabilitation and psychiatric support. His colleagues described him as someone whose influence extended far beyond medicine.
