Three men who robbed a bank in the small North West town of Sannieshof did not count on the town's farming community watching their every move.

The robbery took place at around 10:30 on Friday, 30 October 2026. Three armed suspects arrived at the bank in a white Toyota Corolla. Two entered the building while a third waited outside. Inside, one suspect went directly to the manager's office, pressed a firearm against him and ordered him to comply. The manager was then marched into the strong room and instructed to fill bags with cash. The trio fled the scene shortly after.

Farmers' camera network seals the suspects' fate

What the suspects apparently did not anticipate was the Sannieshof Farmers' Community in Blue, a network of farmers and camera operators who monitor roads in and around the area. After police activated a multidisciplinary operation, the farmers shared live footage and real-time intelligence on the suspects' movements with investigators.

Acting on that information, officers moved along the Ottosdal Road and spotted a white Hyundai carrying three occupants. The men, aged between 47 and 49, were arrested. One bag used during the robbery, along with clothing worn during the heist, was recovered. A drone unit and the Lichtenburg K9 Unit were also deployed to help comb the area for additional evidence. The white Toyota Corolla used in the robbery was later found abandoned in Sannieshof.

The three suspects are set to appear before the Delareyville Magistrates' Court on Monday, 2 November 2026, on charges of bank robbery. The Directorate for Priority Crime Investigation (DPCI) will handle the case going forward.
