A social media creator left South Africans talking after sharing a detailed look at a courier driver's payslip on 7 September 2026. Salary reviewer Boni Xaba posted the breakdown on Facebook, walking viewers through every line of the salary slip. The driver's basic pay came to R10 822.00, but it was the overtime component that made the biggest difference, adding more than R6 400.00 to the total. Combined with other allowances, the gross earnings climbed to R17 778.59.

Matric and a licence open doors

Once standard deductions were applied, including PAYE, UIF and provident fund contributions totalling R3 315.17, the driver's take-home pay settled at R14 463.42. What caught many viewers off guard was the entry requirement. Xaba pointed out that the role asks for nothing more than a valid driver's licence and a matric certificate. For a package that competitive, those are remarkably accessible qualifications.
