“Smart”: SA Woman Hops on Viral Tiny Car Trend and Has Mzansi Amused

A South African woman had Mzansi in absolute stitches after joining a viral Instagram trend that fooled thousands of followers into thinking she had just bought a tiny vehicle.

Lingiswa March posted the AI-generated image on 7 September 2026, captioning it with:

"God did it. Congratulations to me🥹❤️🥂."

The photo showed her posing proudly beside a small grey electric car, complete with a large red bow, in front of what appeared to be a dealership.

What many followers did not realise at first was that the image was entirely AI-generated, part of a popular trend doing the rounds online at the time.

Mzansi could not keep a straight face

The comment section erupted almost immediately. South Africans were not short of creative ways to describe the size of the vehicle.

When reached for comment, Lingiswa confirmed the reality of the post.

"The post was actually AI-generated and was part of a viral trend I participated in on Instagram. So, no, it wasn't a real car purchase," she wrote.
