A psychotherapist posted on Twitter a few dating tips for couples to do before they get married. The lady advised people not to get swept away by the relationship's romance but to also have uncomfortable conversations before leaping into marriage.

She suggested that discussing topics like childhood trauma is crucial in building a lasting union, and a relationship with only kissing and cuddling will soon fizzle out.

"Before you get married, discuss parenting styles, religious beliefs, childhood traumas, SEXUAL EXPECTATIONS, political views, career pathways, BILLS AND FINANCIAL BELIEFS.

Her viral post has over 200 thousand likes and 50 thousand retweets when writing this. Netizens eagerly shared their own takes on what makes a successful marriage:

@ademola227 said:

"The essence of love is not realized when all listed are thoroughly discussed. In the end, patience and understanding strengthen and keep the marriage alive."

@Moonmantus tweeted:

"Political views aren’t necessary."

@NdouNtshuxeko commented:

"They will still lie. They will say what they know you want to hear. Then later on, they reveal their true colours."

@Adeoluomotola wrote:

"Just marry the person who loves you and never take their love for granted."

@devinamehra asked:

"You should discuss. But what do you do if you later discover that the other person was lying through their teeth while checking off your list?"

@WEATHERxCALIPHA explained:

"People don't understand that this is marriage she’s talking about. You can avoid discussing these things in the talking and dating stages."

@BlackTzedek added:

"Good list. Please also discuss needs vs wants, family dynamics, how you see special days/holidays, love languages, how you prioritize household chores, pet peeves, hygiene triggers and how leisure time should be spent. You have to DO LIFE with them."

In more relationship stories, Briefly News reported that sometimes there are just some things in a relationship that you just can’t overlook. For this woman, it is her man’s broken English. Sis has reached her breaking point!

Everyone has a pet peeve that some people just do not get. While average English with typos and grammatical errors seems like something petty, to this woman it could be a deal breaker.
