Ekurhuleni Deaths: Police Search for Family of Unidentified Woman Found in Clayville River

GAUTENG — Police are still searching for the family of an unidentified woman whose body was found floating in a river in Clayville, near the Mall of Tembisa, in September.
The woman was discovered on 7 September wearing only her underwear, Deputy National Police Commissioner Lieutenant General Tebello Mosikili confirmed.
Mosikili provided the update outside the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday, 21 September, where two women appeared in connection with the murder of Jabulile Ntimba.
Ntimba was the ninth woman found dead in Ekurhuleni and surrounding areas over roughly two months, with police investigating a series of cases that has raised concern among local communities.

Police work to identify victims
Police have managed to identify several of the women, while efforts are continuing to establish the identities of those whose bodies remain unidentified. The Clayville victim is among those whose names have not yet been released.
Another unidentified woman was found in Olifantsfontein on 14 September. She was reportedly semi-naked and had bruises on her body. Police said her identity had not been released because her family still needed to be formally notified.
Nine women found dead
Busisiwe Mahlangu, 37, was found naked with her hands bound in Kempton Park on 15 July. Itumeleng Kekana, 32, went missing before her body was found in Pomona on 3 August. Nomfesane Mjobo was found dead in Kempton Park on 26 August.
An unidentified woman was found floating in a Clayville river on 7 September. Gracious Nkomo, 28, was found near the R21 on 10 September and later identified by her family. Elizabeth “Tsontso” Moselakgomo, 38, was found dead behind a Rhodesfield hotel after going for a run.
Another unidentified woman was found semi-naked and bruised in Olifantsfontein on 14 September. Dineo Evelyn Motapane, 38, was found in KwaThema on 15 September, with preliminary findings indicating she was strangled. Jabulile Ntimba was found dead in Dawn Park on 17 September with a fatal throat injury.
Police have not confirmed that the deaths are all connected, and investigations into the individual cases are continuing.
Two women appear in Ntimba case
Briefly News reported that Fortunate Masilela and Tsakane Nester Msithini appeared in the Boksburg Magistrate’s Court on Monday after being arrested by the Gauteng Murder and Robbery Unit. They face charges of premeditated murder and defeating the ends of justice in connection with Jabulile Ntimba’s death. Masilela and Msithini were remanded in custody and are expected to apply for bail on 1 October.
