Mamelodi Sundowns appear to be winning the race to sign AmaZulu FC defender Wandile Dube, edging out Orlando Pirates in what has become a pattern for the Tshwane club during this transfer window.
FARPost reported that Sundowns are closing in on the 22-year-old, after Pirates had initially held talks with the KwaZulu-Natal side over a potential transfer. According to the report, the current African champions have since taken the lead in negotiations and made notable progress towards finalising a deal with Usuthu, with the transfer potentially wrapping up before Monday's deadline.
Dube praised by Usuthu coach
Dube made just 10 appearances for AmaZulu in the 2025/26 campaign, but his performances drew attention from some of the PSL's biggest clubs. FARPost noted that he is widely regarded as one of the most exciting young talents to come through at AmaZulu, and has previously received praise from Usuthu head coach Arthur Zwane.

Sundowns build squad to reclaim PSL title
The Dube pursuit is the latest in a series of transfer moves by Sundowns as they look to reclaim the Premier Soccer League title from Orlando Pirates.
The Brazilians have already brought in Antonio van Wyk from SV Ried in Austria, Siyanda Ndlovu from Golden Arrows, Ricardo Goss on a return from loan, as well as Cassius Mailula, Deano van Rooyen and Thabang Matuludi. Notably, Ndlovu had initially been linked with Pirates before opting for Sundowns, while Matuludi was also snatched from under the Soweto giants' noses.
On the outgoing side, the club released Peter Shalulile and Miguel Reisinho, loaned Terrence Mashego to Stellenbosch FC, and saw Thapelo Maseko join FC Copenhagen in Denmark and Thato Sibiya move to Lille in France. Jayden Adams, tragically, passed away during the window. Jody February departed for Siwelele FC.
