SOUTH AFRICA — Former Gauteng Hawks head Prince Mokotedi has publicly accused DA MP Glynnis Breytenbach of maintaining a corrupt relationship with billionaire Nathan Kirsh, in allegations aired during an appearance on The Unpopular Opinion podcast.
According to TimesLIVE, Mokotedi claimed that files extracted from Breytenbach's laptop during a prior investigation documented personal interactions between the two while Kirsh was an active complainant in an NPA case she was prosecuting. According to Mokotedi, Kirsh acquired $1 million (approximately R16 million) worth of shares in a US company on Breytenbach's behalf after she helped recover around R200 million that had been stolen from him.

The allegations do not stop there. Mokotedi also alleged that Kirsh bankrolled Breytenbach's legal defence during her NPA disciplinary hearing by channelling funds through the FW de Klerk Foundation. He further claimed that Kirsh covered the cost of a R10,000 golf outing in Warmbaths and paid R10 million to the DA in order to secure her a position within the party.

Breytenbach rejects allegations
Breytenbach, who recently slammed former IDAC head Andrea Johnson, has firmly rejected the accusations. Speaking to TimesLIVE, she described the claims as "total rubbish," insisting that all of the matters raised had already been thoroughly examined during both her disciplinary hearing and a subsequent criminal trial, in which she was cleared of all charges.
She characterised the allegations as 14-year-old fabrications and argued that the original investigations against her were never conducted in good faith. In her view, they amounted to politically motivated retaliation after she refused to withdraw corruption charges against police officials.
