SOUTH AFRICA - Parliament has directly contradicted claims made by National Coloured Congress leader Fadiel Adams, stating there is no record of any communication from him to the office of the National Assembly Speaker.
Adams had asserted that he contacted the Speaker in connection with the Political Killings Task Team, a body that has been a focus of the Madlanga Commission's proceedings. Parliament's response flatly disputes that version of events.
Adams cites laptop failure at Commission
Adams made a brief appearance before the Madlanga Commission, where he offered an explanation for why he had not submitted his affidavit by the required deadline. He told the commission that his work laptop had malfunctioned, preventing him from completing and delivering the document on time.

The claim about writing to the Speaker appeared to form part of his broader account of his engagement with processes tied to the commission's work.
Parliament disputes the record
Parliament, however, says it checked and found nothing in the Speaker's office to support what Adams described. No letter, email, or any other form of written communication from Adams to the Speaker's office has been recorded.
The contradiction places Adams' account under scrutiny at a sensitive time. The Madlanga Commission is examining matters related to political killings, making the credibility of those who appear before it a significant concern.
